Exhibition at Ivan Vazov 18th Street

7x7 before below above and beyond Cradle to cluster, mortal like thee. My body, my Flesh: potato

Worship the humble bulb.

Simen Fische Strand is an artist based in Oslo, working primarily in sculpture with a foundation in metalwork and material-based art. He blends traditional craftsmanship with found objects and ready-mades, often incorporating low-tech processes to question ideas of function, belief, and authority. His practice explores constructed friction between inner conviction and external systems, using material to investigate spiritual longing, absurdity, and the ordinary as sacred.

Strand holds a Bachelor’s degree in Metal and Jewellery Art from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts and has studied at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design (VŠVU) in Bratislava. He has exhibited in group shows in Oslo, Athens, Munich, and Bratislava. His most recent project centers on the potato as a devotional object, reflecting on mortality, monoculture, and its role in shaping modern society.

The exhibition is supported by The Norwegian Art Council. And many thanks to Tequila Bar for serving free drinks at the opening.
