What happens when the body loses the status of a closed form? It becomes transparent and fluid, turning into an unstable layer where the personal and the foreign, the present and the illusory, overlap one another. The body is no longer an object of depiction but a medium: it no longer belongs solely to itself, opening instead as a surface where states, gestures, and traces of presence settle.

There is no linear narrative here. The interaction of figures does not aim at a finished story — it is rather a process of dissolution and displacement, where forms lose stability. One body grows through another, their contours mutually overlap, and it seems that what we see is not skin, but a shared space of inner movement — tension, memory, emotion.

The title Inversions refers to a reversal of perception. Color and rhythm function here as languages of shift: warmth turns into coldness, flesh becomes radiance, a gesture is fixed in a pause. These displacements reveal other dimensions — the reverse side of intimacy, the fragility of touch, the memory of presence that continues to exist even after disappearance.

Thus, the nude becomes both profoundly intimate and profoundly universal: each figure retains its individuality and simultaneously loses it, passing into the state of a shared matter.

Что происходит, когда тело утрачивает статус замкнутой формы? Оно становится прозрачным и текучим, превращается в зыбкий слой, где личное и чужое, настоящее и иллюзорное накладываются друг на друга. Тело становится не объектом изображения, а медиумом: оно больше не принадлежит только самому себе, а открывается как поверхность, на которой осаждаются состояния, жесты и следы присутствия.

Здесь нет линейного сюжета. Взаимодействие фигур не стремится к завершённой истории — это скорее процесс растворения и смещения, в котором формы теряют стабильность. Одно тело прорастает сквозь другое, их очертания взаимно перекрываются, и возникает ощущение, что перед нами не кожа, а общее пространство внутреннего движения — напряжение, память, эмоция.

Название «Инверсии» отсылает к перевороту восприятия. Цвет и ритм работают здесь как языки сдвига: тёплое оборачивается холодным, плоть превращается в сияние, а жест фиксируется в паузе. Эти смещения открывают иные плоскости: обратную сторону близости, хрупкость прикосновения, ту память о присутствии, которая продолжает существовать даже после исчезновения.

Таким образом, обнажённое оказывается и предельно интимным, и предельно универсальным, где каждая фигура сохраняет индивидуальность и одновременно утрачивает её, переходя в состояние общей материи.

Ksenia Sandesko (b. 1996, Ukraine) is an artist living and working in Moscow. In her practice, she explores the human body as both a physical and metaphysical presence. Her artistic research focuses on the body as a carrier of memory and identity, a space where intimacy and alienation, presence and dissolution coexist. Sandesko studied painting at the Kharkiv Academy of Design and Arts and continued her education in contemporary art programs, including the Free Studios at the Moscow Museum of Contemporary Art. The artist’s works have been shown in solo and group exhibitions, including her first solo show Moments (2021, Moscow) and Physiology of Nature (2024, Askeri Gallery, Moscow).
