Half hearted, Whole hearted

In my childhood home, there were many tourist brochures from different places my parents had visited, such as churches and various monuments. They were cheaply produced and could be bought in several different languages, rarely proofread and with many amusing language errors. You can still see similar ones today, usually in souvenir-shops in the proximities of famous tourist spots. It was my father who made sure to buy them, perhaps he did it because he longed to be away from Sweden. The brochures were not only evidence of having been somewhere, but a portal to dream back, dream away. Through the physical trip that was once made, he was able to make an inner journey away from Sweden through the brochures. The artists in this exhibition also relate to traveling, in their own ways and with their own experiences. In addition to the fact that they traveled to Bulgaria to make this exhibition together, the works continue the dialogue around ”journey”, directly connected to places and objects or in a more diffuse way that brings to mind inner journeys and states.

Inez Jönsson (b. 1989, Sweden) lives and works in Stockholm. She graduated from the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm in 2017 and has since participated in group exhibitions with Gallery Belenius at Chart Art Fair and Fullersta Gård. In 2019 she had her solo debut with the exhibition The Horsetail Sealed and Unsealed at Gallery Belenius. She was selected by the Royal Art Academy as the recipient of the Vera and Göran Agnekils Grant for young artists in 2020 and was awarded Bærtlingstipendiet by the Bærtling Foundation in 2021.

Josef Ruona (b.1989) lives and works in Milano, Italy.

Adrian Olas (b.1992) lives and works in Stockholm, Sweden. He holds bachelors, masters and post-masters degrees from the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm. In 2022 he founded Luxemburg press.

Behin Roozbeh (b.1992) lives and works in Stockholm, Sweden. She holds a Master's degree from Konstfack, Stockholm, Sweden.

Mikael Lo Presti (b. 1989, Södra Sandby, Sweden) lives and works in Stockholm. He graduated from Oslo Art Academy in 2015 and participated in the Independent Study Programme, at Maumaus, Lisbon, in 2017. Recent exhibitions include “Dancing moths, Running dogs and Sun-dried cloth”, STANDARD (OSLO), Oslo; “One Plus One,” STANDARD (OSLO), Oslo; Condo, Bureau, New York; “Echoes of the Street Vendors,” STANDARD (OSLO), Oslo; Tegnebiennalen, Kunstnernes Hus, Oslo; “Maleriets Letthet,” Kunstnerforbundet, Oslo. "Greetings from the Whereabouts," published by STANDARD (BOOKS) in 2021, is the first monograph on the work of Mikael Lo Presti and includes texts by Eivind Furnesvik, Johannes Witkowsky, and Emma Aars.
