We live in a turbulent time filled with political crises and social tensions. The Covid-19 pandemic has exacerbated problems and controversies that have been simmering for a long time, and in this difficult time of pervasive crisis - economic, political and spiritual - things have just erupted. The period when access to the outside world was blocked, provoked the will and patience of everyone, but it especially provoked the artists, who had to find new tactics and strategies to reach their audience. New forms of creative expression have emerged, especially in the online space, which has necessitated a rethinking of the understanding of common/public space.
The “new normality”, as this historical moment came to be called, is shaping its new patterns of behavior and relationships. Social isolation and blocked access to public life have unleashed unprecedented empathy and solidarity among people. Provoked by all these new public appearances, I started implementing a curatorial project for an exhibition that reflects on current processes and topics. The title I chose comes from the English phrase – “What’s next?”, which besides its literal meaning, “What is to happen next”, at the same time, is a coded message with a vision for the future. It is used in many modern methods for career and personal development, as well as for environmental causes and preservation campaigns. It is also interesting that with a small grammatical change to “What Next?” the expression takes on a different meaning - a rhetorical question “What else… (Might happen to me)?”, uttered by someone who is going through a difficult time in life and a number of problems and disasters happen to her/him. I think that is pretty much valid for our historical moment, and this is a good starting point of looking for the new and the positive outcomes of all this.
The exhibition at the Heerz Tooya Gallery is a kind of chronicle of the times. It is a snapshot of the extraordinary situation where we happened to found ourselves lately and whereupon we are searching for new models for going on.
Thus, the show is a bright kaleidoscope, an open-ended story, shared thoughts and experiences about what has happened and what lies ahead of us. We hope that each visitor will find something personally interesting to be shared with other people.

Живеем в турбулентно време, изпълнено с политически кризи и социално напрежение. Пандемията от COVID-19 изостри проблеми и противоречия , които тлееха от дълго време и в този труден момент на повсеместна криза – икономическа, политическа и духовна, те просто избухнаха. Периодът, в който достъпа навън бе затворен предизвика волята и търпението на всички, но особено много то провокира хората на изкуството, които трябваше да намерят нови тактики и стратегии за да достигнат до своята публика. Породиха се нови форми на творческа изява, най-вече в онлайн пространството, което наложи и преосмисляне на разбирането на общо / публично пространство.
„Новата нормалност“, както започна да се нарича този исторически момент, оформя своите нови модели на поведение и взаимоотношение. Социалната изолация и затвореният достъп към общественият живот отключи безпрецедентна съпричастност и солидарност сред хората.
Провокирана от всички тези нови обществени проявления реших да реализирам кураторски изложбен проект, който да рефлектира на актуалните процеси и теми. Заглавието, на което се спрях идва от английският израз – What’s next?, който в буквален превод звучи като „Какво следва?“, но същевременно е кодово послание с визия за бъдещето, което се използва в много съвременни методи за кариерно развитие и личностно самоусъвършенстване, както и за екологични каузи и програми за опазване на околната среда. Интересно е също, че с една дребна граматическа намеса - What Next? изразът придобива друг смисъл – на реторичен въпрос „Какво още…(може да ми се случи)?“, изречен от някой, който минава през труден момент в живота и му се случват редица проблеми и бедствия. Смятам, че нашият исторически момент е именно такъв и това е една добра отправна точка, от която да тръгнем в търсене на новото и позитивното.
Изложбата в галерия Heerz Tooya е своеобразна хроника на това време. Момента снимка на извънредната ситуация, в която се оказахме и в която търсим да открием новите си модели на поведение. Така изложбата става пъстър калейдоскоп, разказ с отворен край, споделени мисли и преживявания относно това какво ни се случи и какво предстои...
